Do Hospice Providers in the Midwest Offer Pet Therapy for Patients?
Yes, we provide pet therapy as part of our specialized alternative therapies for hospice patients throughout the Midwest, including various communities in Ohio and Indiana. We recognize that while we cannot change the outcome, we can certainly affect the journey by bringing the gentle companionship of trained animals directly to the patient’s bedside.
Our pet therapy program is designed to offer the following benefits:
- Physical Comfort: Interacting with an animal can help reduce stress hormones, lower blood pressure, and ease physical discomfort.
- Emotional Well-being: For patients feeling anxious or lonely, these visits provide a sense of joy, connection, and profound peace.
- Individualized Care: We carefully coordinate every visit, screening for allergies or fears to ensure the patient’s comfort always comes first.
In addition to pet therapy, we offer other complementary options such as Cherish Touch (hand and foot massage), Cherish Sounds (soothing music and nature recordings), and aromatherapy. These services are available to our patients across our service areas, including Springfield and Canton, OH, as well as Warsaw, IN, and surrounding counties.
Please consult with a healthcare professional for personalized medical advice. Results may vary based on individual patient conditions. Patients may discontinue hospice services at any time; hospice care focuses on comfort rather than cure.
